I’m no prima donna.

But I am a damn good designer.

Some phrases that best describe me: Creative Thinker. Problem Solver. Tech Geek. Efficiency Freak. Hard Worker. Fast Learner. Positive. Meticulous. List Maker.

I love bringing form to ideas. By combining images, colour, typography and layout, I make those ideas — and the stories behind them — come to life.

My story

Since graduating from the prestigious Graphic Design program at Sheridan College, I’ve worked for numerous publications, including Elm Street, Musicworks, 50Plus, Xtra and This Magazine. As a consultant for Magazines Canada, I have travelled across the country to provide guidance to publications and given presentations on editorial design.

In 2001, I launched my own freelance business so I could explore new creative ground, such as collaborating with a number of agencies on a wide range of projects requiring branding, web design, print collateral, packaging and motion design.

From 2011 to spring 2015, I rejoined Pink Triangle Press as creative director, where I managed a design team of five while art directing, executing layout and overseeing production of Xtra and Fab magazines, as well as the international news website DailyXtra.com.

My recent goal has to been fuse my invaluable knowledge of print design with my passion for technology. I’m an alumni at HackerYou, one of the top-rated coding schools in Canada, where I’ve learned the latest and greatest techniques in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, WordPress, and PHP development from industry leaders.

Social media, data visualization and content management systems are playgrounds for me, as I enjoy presenting information and optimizing workflows in a way that is clear, concise, and user-friendly. I’m also expanding on my knowledge of UX and UI design, a natural progression as it shares much of the same methodology as editorial packaging and layout.
